Alexey Pisarevsky, CEO at Mobio Talks Mobile App Marketing

A good marketing strategy is what mobile apps require to be connected with people, who really need these apps to be entertained or to tackle a particular problem in the life. Meet Alexey Pisarevsky, CEO of Mobio, the most successful app marketing company on the Russian mobile app market.

What’s your job title and what does this involve?

I am the CEO and founder of Mobio, mobile marketing and app promotion company from Russia. Earlier, these titles meant you had to do pretty much everything. Then we have developed to 20+ employees and I thought I could breathe more easily and tackle the strategy. But today I understand that in spite of the greatness of our team I still have to do pretty much everything, otherwise you cannot build a great business.

Where do you work in the app industry and what does the company do?

We are a mobile app marketing company. We promote apps made/published by our customers. There are must be thousands of companies of the kind in the world, but if you take Russia alone, it comes down to dozens. Mobio is one of the top three app marketing agencies in Russia, and the RU market is where we have the majority of success stories.

What are the big trends you see in the app market right now?

If we speak about traffic buying, I see that advertisers stopped buying all the traffic they can get their hands on. They now know the value of this or that source, many advertisers only buy traffic that shows positive ROI. Even Chinese advertisers that used to go on a spree every time they had an app to promote have grown picky about the sources and pose strict requirements regulating the quality of traffic.

What is the best thing about working in apps and mobile?

The coolest thing about apps and mobile is the rapid development of the markets that still offer place for almost anyone willing to join. I think this trend will persist for about three more years, and then the business will not be as tasty as it is now. The competition will be ruthless, only the best will survive.

What is the one thing you’d like to change about the app business?

I wish there was a third platform competing with iOS and Android. If WP grows at least 10-fold, things will get more interesting. Three platforms make a better system than two.

What company in the app market do you admire the most?

I’ve just unlocked the screen of my iPhone and the answer came to me at once: it is Telegram. It’s the best messenger, period. I wish Pavel Durov all the best, he is a really cool.

What mobile devices do you use?

iPhone 6 space grey

What are your favourite apps / games?

I prefer apps made by Russian developers. Maps and browser from Yandex, tickets booking from Aviasales and OneTwoTrip, taxi — City-Mobil. I read books in Litres and communicate through Telegram.

What do you think of the Apple Watch?

I believe it’s a revolution comparable to that the first iPhone brought us. Right now, we simply cannot see all the use case scenarios for the Watch, but I am sure it will change things in many spheres.
