TikTok, the popular video app, is apparently working on a native audience network that lets advertisers reach users more easily.
According to developer documents obtained by AdWeek, advertisers would be able to target users whilst they’re using other apps through the network.
In other words, advertisers would be able to reach users outside of the TikTok platform.
The audience network is currently undergoing beta testing in East Asia.
TikTok provides a variety of format options from rewarded video to full-page video ads.
The company has been growing at a rapid pace. It announced the milestone of one billion monthly users in June, but hasn’t been able to monetise just yet.
Launching an audience network and building a larger advertising platform could help it do just that and satisfy investors.
Given its huge reach and a large Gen Z audience who consume video on a daily basis, there’s also scope for TikTok to explore influencer marketing in the future.
