Snap has launched a new content format called Creator Shows for its Snapchat app to feature video shows on themes including beauty, dance, fitness, fashion and others. Creator Shows will feature various creators, social media influencers and celebrities and appear within the Discover section of the app.

The move aligns with Snap’s plans to bolster personality-driven content experiences on Snapchat, and follows the success of Snapchat Shows which saw viewership tripling over 12 months according to Snap.

Creator Shows has already partnered with Emma Chamberlain, Loren Gray, Rickey Thompson, Baby Ariel, FaZe Banks, Maddie Ziegler, Keke Palmer, Jordyn Jones, Denzel Dion, Chantel Jeffries, Serena Williams, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Kevin Hart for original content.

Shows including the celebrities will be distributed on Snapchat across the summer.

Various social networks including Facebook and Instagram have bolstered their influencer and creator options to build platforms which reward original content and keep audiences engaged at the same time. Facebook provides an option for fans to subscribe to their favourite stars for a small fee, which it takes a 30% cut from.

Additionally, Snapchat announced the launch of Highlights for official creator accounts which lets creators add photos and video contents from Snap Stories to their profiles. This will enable creators to link shows to their profiles in the future.
