App Business

It’s been a very successful month for gaming apps, fuelled by a growing number of people confined to their homes with little else to do but play games on their mobile phones.

Now data by Apptopia reveals that game live stream and communication apps like Twitch, Mixer, Caffeine and Discord have all seen their app revenues increasing rapidly during the first quarter of the year.

Caffeine users spent around $3,000 in March, while Mixer attracted a revenue of $360,000, Discord brought in $890,000 and Twitch generated a whopping $8.2 million, up from roughly $2.5 million the previous year.

Both Discord and Caffeine shared record download numbers for March at 10.4 million and 674,000, respectively.

Time spent using Discover grew 27.5% whilst users spent 36.5% more time in Twitch.
