Facebook has acquired VR game studio Beat Games based out of Prague. According to a blog post, Beat Games will join Oculus Studios (also owned by Facebook) to develop gaming content for Oculus hardware. However, Beat Games will continue to operate in Prague as an independent studio unit.

Facebook acquired Oculus in 2014 for $2 billion to drive the expansion of its virtual reality technologies.

By integrating a games studio such as Beat Games, the network is bolstering its in-house game content.

It’s likely that Facebook will acquire additional VR or gaming businesses to integrate with Oculus as it seeks to expand its focus on the technologies.

Beat Games creates the popular Beat Saber VR game, which lets users slash music beats in a futuristic setting.

“Beat Games’ accomplishments are already impressive, but Facebook and the Beat Games team know that there is so much more that can be done across VR, games, and music. They have only scratched the surface with Beat Saber in terms of social features, new modes, music, and more. We are thrilled to join forces to see where this talented team takes VR gaming in the future,” Oculus wrote in a blog post.
