ByteDance, the company behind popular video app TikTok, has released its own smartphone in China. The Juanguo Pro 3 has been developed by Smartisan.
The company entered a deal to acquire patents from Beijing-based technology company Smartisan earlier this year. As part of the deal, some of Smartisan’s staff transferred to ByteDance.
The phone carries a price tag of 2,899 yuan or $412, but it is currently only available in China. And ByteDance has ruled out a US launch, at least for now.
Unsurprisingly, the phone comes preloaded with Douyin (aka the Chinese TikTok version). When users swipe up on the home screen, the app will automatically open.
The phone comes with a Snapdragon 955 Plus processor, a 4,000 mAh battery and a quad-camera array. The camera includes a 48-megapixel sensor and 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The front-facing selfie camera is also not too shabby at a 20-megapixel resolution.
