Gimbal formed when two independent companies – The Mobile Majority and Gimbal – merged at the end of 2016. The former, an integrated mobile advertising platform based in Los Angeles, and the latter, a location technology platform born out of Qualcomm, joined forces to bring the best of adtech and martech together under a single offering. Since 2016, Gimbal has acquired 5 other companies and has been named to the Inc. 500 and Deloitte Fast 500 multiple years in a row.
Gimbal uses its proprietary location technology to collect real-world visitation data for audience segmentation, targeting, in-store measurement, and analytics. Gimbal works with agencies and brands to run identity-based, cross-device media campaigns via their Ad Platform. Gimbal also works with publishers and Fortune 500 businesses to power their mobile applications through leading geofence software and proximity hardware via their Location Platform.
Gimbal’s Location SDK was born out of Qualcomm with over 40M dollars of R&D invested and is installed on more apps than others in the location intelligence space, as measured in 2020 by Mighty Signal.
Gimbal’s Bluetooth Low Energy Beacons are ready for indoor and outdoor use and reinforce the company’s commitment to privacy, delivering industry-leading and best-in-class firmware security. The company’s beacon offering comprises USB beacons, Series 10 coin-sized beacons, and the Series 21 and 22 beacons, for better range and ruggedness.
