Apple has announced that it is working with musician Will.i.am as well as TV executives Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owners to produce a new show which shines light on the app economy.
The company has previously been rumoured to be creating its own show. The latest move resembles more of a marketing campaign than a production to rival Netflix.
Eddy Cue, Senior VP of Internet software and services, Apple, says:
“One of the things with the app store that was always great about it was the great ideas that people had to build things and create things.”
The show would be Apple’s first original production outside of music. However, not many details are known just yet and Apple declined to comment on the issue further.
Cue added that the production didn’t mean that Apple was to establish a presence within streaming video. He adds:
“This doesn’t mean that we are going into a huge amount of movie production or TV production or anything like that.”
