Pinterest has officially broken a new audience record with 265 million monthly active users as of April 2019, up from 250 million in September 2018.
The popular blogging site revealed the latest user growth as part of a recent S1 filing ahead of its IPO.
Although user growth remains behind that of large social media networks and apps including Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter, Pinterest has shown steady growth over the last few years.
The company also continues to expand its suite of advertising opportunities presenting a growing number of opportunities for retailers and brands to share their products and reached highly engaged audiences.
It has also made it easier for retailers to incorporate links to their products directly with the launch of Shopping Ads and Catalogs. These let users explore a brand’s entire catalogue of products.
At the same time, eMarketer previously found that more marketers were using Pinterest to advertise in 2018 (31.9%) compared to 2017 (29.1%), signalling growing interest in the platform as a means to reach potential customers.
The company previously revealed that 90% of its users were already making purchases on the app and 78% of Pinners found branded content on the platform helpful.
