Binh is a mobile technology enthusiast, professionally active in the app industry since 2017, primarily focusing on App Store Optimisation. He has hands-on experience managing approximately 250 consumer and gaming apps across 65 categories and genres.

In your own words, what’s your role in the app business right now?

I’m trailblazing sustainable app marketing by combining conventional organic growth channels (ASO, SEO, etc.) with product-led growth (GTM, remarketing, etc.) and community-building strategies (culturalization, UGC, etc.).

How did you end up working in apps?

My gaming hobby led me to start working at a games studio that happened to focus on mobile. I quickly fell in love with apps, and that passion resonated surprisingly well with my background in marketing, ultimately making me fall in love with app marketing.

What are you most excited about in apps right now?

Apps as a cultural movement. We’re shifting from the mindset of “there’s an app for everything” — often not tied to real-world problems — to a belief that “anything can and will be solved with an app”.

Is there anyone you’d like to shout out to who has influenced your journey in the app industry?

Many. Melanie Winterholler taught me a great deal about leading a team; Nick Fettiplace taught me everything I know about sales; Vincent Hart de Keating showed me how to innovate anything by being entrepreneurial; and Moritz Daan trained me in ASO. I’m simply standing on the shoulders of these giants.

What’s in your app tech stack?

AppTweak, Sensor Tower, Developer Consoles, Appsflyer, Looker Studio, Ahrefs, Splitmetrics, Google Keyword Planner, Firebase Crashlytics, Appfollow, Google Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Hemingway Editor — plus numerous self-made, first-party tools.

What do you like most about working in apps?

The fast pace, the endless unknowns waiting to be discovered, and the diversity of participants in the app economy.

What one thing would you change about the app industry?

Fewer “optimizations” and more truly new solutions, so apps deliver the right benefits to the right users, rather than just doing the same things slightly faster.

If you weren’t working in apps what would you be doing?

Cooking and writing.

iOS or Android?

Android.

What apps have been most useful to you over the last year?

Google Calendar.

What’s on your Spotify playlist?

Metal and hard rock.

Any TV show recommendations?

Altered Carbon.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

I’m an introverted geek pretending to be extroverted, but being socially awkward can sometimes be fun.
