WhatsApp has unveiled several updates to its mCommerce features across its Business app and API.
The changes will allow companies and retailers to feature more products.
WhatsApp users will be able to purchase products directly via the app by making in-chat payments.
Some 175 million customers message a WhatsApp Business account each day.
Now, companies can integrate WhatsApp product features into their customer solutions.
In addition, the company said it would extend partnerships with business solution providers to roll out options for managed messaging services.
“Providing this option will make it easier for small and medium size businesses to get started, sell products, keep their inventory up to date, and quickly respond to messages they receive – wherever their employees are,” it wrote in a blog post.
To launch these features, WhatsApp said it would begin charing its business customers for some of the services on offer.
