Twitter just launched its Super Follow feature that lets creators earn revenues by sharing subscriber-only content with their followers.

For now, select US creators will be able to charge a monthly fee to fans in return for sharing exclusive content.

It’s an incentive that could bolster engagement among top creators and their most active fans on the platform and app.

“Creating Super Follows content is for anyone who brings their unique perspectives and personalities to Twitter to drive the public conversation, including activists, journalists, musicians, content curators, writers, gamers, astrology enthusiasts, skincare and beauty experts, comedians, fantasy sports experts, and more.” Twitter wrote in the blog post.

Monthly subscriptions can be set at $2.99, $4.99 or $9.99.

VIPs on the app can then share thoughts and special previews or even private conversations with their fans.

For example, MakeupforWOC is offering skincare advice to followers while sports expert KingJosiah54 is providing in-depth sports analysis to fans.

To publish content for Super Followers only, creators select the relevant option before tweeting.

Right now, Twitter is accepting applications for its waitlist for the feature. Creators need to have at last 10,000 followers and be over the age of 18 years to be accepted.

Users can subscribe at any time to activated accounts by hitting the Super Follow button on their favourite creator’s account.
