TikTok was the most downloaded app globally during the first month of 2022, according to new data from app experts AppFigures.
Downloads of the popular short-form video app rose to 52 million, taking the lead back from Instagram (45 million).
Among the top five were also Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram.
Zoom jumped to 8th place following a pandemic-led explosion in 2020.
The top 10 apps secured a combined 310 million downloads in January.
In the games category, Subway Surfers led for downloads, adding 25 million new installs, led by India and Brazil.
Roblox ranked in second place at 16 million downloads.
However, the data shows that hyper casual titles saw a slowdown during January likely due to a drop in ad spending after a busy December.
