TikTok did not only set records when it came to revenues this year and recently marked the milestone of 3 billion installs.
This makes TikTok the fifth non-gaming app on the App Store and Good ePlay to accrue over 3 billion installs, following WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook and Instagram.
For the first half of 2021, the ByteDance owned popular short-form video app generated an estimated $919 million in consumer spending, up 73% from $530 million the previous year.
According to new data from SensorTower, the app managed to achieve the spike in spending despite a decline in downloads (-38%) after it was removed from Indian app stores.
Consumer spending climbed 39% in Q2 2021 compared to Q2 2020.
Interestingly, just 16 non-gaming apps achieved gross revenues over more than $1 billion since 2014, including Tinder, Netflix, YouTube and Tencent Video.
