Snapchat paid out $250 million to its creators this year

Snapchat said it paid out more than $250 million through its Spotlight creator funding program this year.

Spotlight launched in 2020 to do away with the barriers to content creation and foster more entertaining content for the community of Snapchatters.

The Cartoon 3D Style Lenses which uses machine learning to turn people into a 3D-animated cartoon attracted a whopping 2.8 billion impressions.

The funding of $250 million was distributed to over 12,00 creators.

The popular teen messaging app also recently expanded its augmented reality lenses to shopping.

This way users can try on clothes, accessories, makeup and more.

The feature makes it easier to shop on mobile and discover new products in a fun and engaging way.
