S’More, the dating app that aims to help users find meaningful relationships, just raised $2.1 million in a seed funding round.

Investors include Benson Oak Ventures, Mark Pincus’ Workplay Ventures, Gaingels VC and many more.

What makes S’More different is that users don’t get to see one another – at first. Their photos are initially blurred and as they begin to chat to another, the photos gradually unblur.

S’More also includes video chats and real-time conversation opportunities. Part of the app’s concept is that discovery should be a fun process. So it’s added features like music and games.

The app achieved 160,000 downloads during its first year and noted a 50% jump in subscriptions at the start of 2021.

The company plans to use the funding to boost its team and operations.

It also has plans to create anti-superficial dating content for digital platforms and TV networks.

It’s recently begun to air content on Instagram Live which has been a good opportunity for the brand to raise awareness and grow its momentum.
