Pinterest has revamped and expanded its shopping features to make it easier for retailers and brands to showcase their products while allowing users to discover and shop the items they’re after.
The microblogging site that is deemed 7x to influence purchasing decision of weekly users, has added slideshows for collections so that advertisers can encourage bigger baskets.
Shoppers on Pinterest tend to have 85% bigger baskets than those on other platforms and spend twice as much per month. With slideshows advertisers can pull products their catalog into collection ads that feature video content.
Merchant details have been added so that brand can showcase their values on their profiles such as “responsibly sourced,” “invested in good” and “inclusive”.
With seven in 10 Pinners saying that the platform is where they go to find products and services they trust, the addition comes at a good time.
Pinterest also extended its Verified Merchant Program that helps shoppers to vet brands and make sure they’re buying from trustworthy suppliers.
Idea Ads with paid partnership are another way of creating a more immersive format on the platform that joins creators with a advertisers.
With Pinners 40% more likely to admit that they love shopping, the latest additions should help to inspire more sales.
