In light of IDFA changes, app developers have been quick to boost their features to bolster player engagement and keep monetising their apps.
According to new research by Vungle’s GameRefinery, app developer updates grew 37%.
The most updated features were live events (143%) and limited offers (122%).
These strategies are being utilised particularly within Puzzle, RPG and Stategy genres.
The report also found that Supercell had a particularly strong quarter (+1.45%), surpassing King (0.39%) for market share. This was due to the success of its Clash of Clans and Clash Royale games.
In the US, puzzle games lost market share (-1.53%) while strategy games increased to 1.73% of market share.
Mobile sports games jumped a whopping 3.41% in market share in Japan, mainly due to Cygames which is performing strongly with Umamusume Pretty Derby.
Meanwhile, RPG games recovered in China (+2.02%) alongside Strategy games (1.79%) while Shooters lost market share (-2.73%).
