Around four in 1,000 customers could be experiencing issues with their mobile apps, according to a new stability report released today by app stability pioneer Bugsnag Inc.
Median stability of mobile apps was 99.63% while that of web apps was 99.39%.
The findings provide an opportunity for engineering groups to invest more into measuring and improving app stability, especially given that the industry target for most IT groups is 99.99%

The report also found that Android and iOS native apps had a higher median stability because dedicated developers working on them were able to address issues more effectively.
Android apps had a slightly lower median stability than iOS ones.
React Native had a lower median stability than other mobile development platforms while Unity apps had the highest median stability scores.
The company also noted a correlation between the size of an engineering team and the median stability scores. The smaller the team, the lower the median stability.
“Although stability is commonly a KPI owned by engineering organizations, it has a significant impact on overall business performance and growth,” said Smith. “Engineering organizations can no longer separate business metrics from the stability of their applications — they must standardize error monitoring and stability solutions across the stack and across multiple teams.”
