Meta is opening applications for the third round of its Community Accelerator Program, to provide educational resources, training and monetary support to leaders in the community.

Over four months, program participants receive expert guidance and coaching to help them strengthen their communities.

They’ll also gain access to Meta tools and support services.

Cash support can be as high as $40,000 to fund community goals.

Originally launched in 2020, Meta has been trying to push the usage of its Groups which is perhaps one of the few truly unique remaining features of the social apps. Neither Snapchat nor TikTok are quite as popular for starting and scheduling group events.

From parenting to hiking, around 400 million people are part of Facebook groups, according to CEO Zuckerberg.

The aim of Community Accelerator is to bolster the group experience and keep users flocking back to the app time and again.

The third instalment of the program is open to groups in 29 countries with over 5,000 members.
