Meta Messenger is adding some new features this holiday season in an effort to more easily connect to friends and family on Messenger, but also Instagram.

Messenger now added Group Effects to make AR calling more fun.

Some of the new effects include a royal crown called King Bach that flips to a different design when a user nods their head.

The company also added a new chat theme and soundmojis earlier in November – one to honour hit TV series Stranger Things and the other in response to Taylor Swift’s new album “Red”.

From this week, users in the US will also be able to use Messenger to Split Payments.

The feature can be used to divide up the cost of bills from the Payments Hub in Messenger. Bills can be easily modified and adapted according to each individual’s contribution in this way just in time for the holiday season.
