In time for Safer Internet Day, Instagram launched a range of new tools that allow users to keep their accounts safe and gain more control over their activities.

The company began testing ‘Your Activity’ last year. Now the feature. Can be accessed from the menu in a user’s profile.

Your Activity provides added control over content and interactions. Users can bulk delete posts or comments and likes and will be able to sort and filter interactions and posts by date and even keywords.

For people who have locked themselves out of their accounts, Instagram is now also testing a way for their friends to confirm their identity as a way to regain access.

At the same time, the app is delivering more information on posts that violate Community Guidelines by sharing a note about it in the Account Status on the Profile tab.

Any such notices can be appealed and all Support Requests remain accessible from the Settings tab.

The new security features follow the launch of Security Checkup last year which guides users through steps needed to secure their accounts.
