Facebook is looking to bring back its Instagram Lite app just a few months after it shut down.
The social media giant said it was testing a revamped Instagram Lite app in India.
The official version may be launched next year.
Instagram Lite comes in at just 2MB and provides a fast and responsive app experience without the addition of extra tabs like Reels, Shopping and IGTV.
Some users may see this as a drawback, but it’s a way to keep the app lighter and eating less data.
Instagram Lite had previously been pulled over some tech issues.
But Facebook Lite, for example, has been popular in India where it’s been downloaded 40 million times while Messenger Lite saw 13 million monthly active users.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is working on a health insurance offering for Indian users that includes credit and pension services too. The company partnered with SBI General ad HDFC Pension for its program.
