Facebook said it wants to invest $1 billion to foster its creator communities on Facebook and Instagram.

The bonuses will be available to select creators by invitation only.

On Facebook, they’ll be awarded to creators making videos with in-stream ads switched on. Monthly bonuses will be made available through its Stars Challenges to select gaming creators.

On Instagram, creators on IGTV will receive cash rewards, so long as they’ve enabled ads too. Popular Reels are also being rewarded as part of the Summer bonus and badges in Live bonus are now available to creators in 11 countries.

The company said its bonus program would be largely seasonal and evolve over time.

In a blog post, Instagram said:

“This investment brings together our many programs and initiatives across the company that support creators and enable them to earn a sustainable income on our apps. It complements our growing suite of monetization tools.”
