Downloads of the top vaccine passport apps jumped over 10 million globally since December 2020, according to new data from Apptopia.
Vaccine passport apps provide proof of vaccination status for passenger.
However, not all countries require them which is why uptake has been relatively slow.
The NHS app was the app with the highest number of downloads in the UK.
The app has been downloaded around 6.5 million times since January.
The second largest apps for downloads was NYS Excelsior Pass Wallet which is used in the US. It was launched in March 2021 and since then has attracted some 1.758 million downloads.
Other apps such as VeriFLY and CommonPass have also seen their downloads jump rapidly.
VeriFLY has now been downloaded 1.6 million times with the US accounting for 62.5% of all downloads.
CommonPass was installed on 135,450 phones since in launched in February 2021 with the US accounting for 83.5% of its total download.
However, according to the reviews many of the vaccine passport apps are not yet working as intended.
