Facebook is now testing an app that could rival Pinterest. Called Hobbi, the app lets people share photos of their hobbies and interests such as interior design or cooking.

Hobbi is touted as a helpful app that lets people explore and document the things they enjoy doing on the App Store.

According to The Information, Facebook’s New Product Experimentation Team is listed as the official developer.

The app has already been released across Belgium, Colombia, Spain, and Ukraine.

The restriction on countries is not surprising since Facebook likes the test new apps in only a subset of areas before rolling them out worldwide.

It also means that there’s not guarantee that Hobbi will ever make it to the UK.

Following the report, Pinterest stocks dropped, but the company was quick to release a statement confirming its commitment to expand its platform.

Whether Hobbi can rival Pinterest, which recently was ranked as the third favourite app by American users, remains to be seen. But it’s never great news when the biggest global social media network tries to steal your thunder.
