Mobile app marketing company Appboy has announced the ‘Appboy Academy,’ a new educational resource designed to teach marketers how to get ahead in the app economy.
The ‘Academy’ supports Appboy’s automated mobile marketing service. It’s essentially a new section of the website offering how-to videos, tips on running app campaigns, articles from the company’s marketing team, and the latest news on Appboy features. Appboy says the Academy will be an ongoing and “constantly evolving” resource for both customers and non-customers alike.
Appboy co-founder Mark Ghermezian said:
“We are entering a new era of Marketing Automation, where an email strategy alone is not enough. The best practices applied online do not successfully translate to the mobile world. Our decision to open up our Success Squad’s elite insights and wisdom as a resource available 24/7 is simply because we believe successful marketing automation is essential to the future of every mobile app.”
The New York-based Appboy focuses app marketing automation to help companies retain and engage users, offering features like in-app, push and email messaging, location targeting, and user segmentation. The company, which launched in 2011, managed to raise $7.6 million in funding last year and counts publishers such as Urban Outfitters, GSN and Pic Stitch among its users.
Education is of course a key element of shifting the industry toward driving engagement and value from existing users, rather than focusing on installs. The Appboy Academy is a little light on content at the moment, but it’s a good start – you can access it now from Appboy’s website.
