Facebook owns the top ten Android app downloads for the month of August, proving the effectiveness of its mobile strategy. Data from Prioridata and Statista shows how dominant the social network was in August 2017, owning six of the top ten most downloaded Android apps.
Positions one to five are Facebook-owned apps, with a collective download total of more than 260 million. WhatsApp is the most downloaded app with 88 million downloads, followed by Messenger with 76 million, Instagram with 42 million, and Facebook with 33 million. The Facebook Lite app is in fifth with 22 million downloads.
The sixth Facebook app in the top ten is Messenger Lite, in 10th place, with nearly 10 million downloads. There’s only space for four more apps, and they are Wish, Snapchat, Subway Surfers, and Spotify. Collectively, the download total for all four is less than WhatsApp’s downloads.
