Facebook is by far the most popular social network in the United States, with 87% of users checking it at least once a day. The data comes from research carried out by business website The Manifest.
This is way beyond the 49% of users checking Instagram each day, the 32% checking Snapchat, and the 31% checking Twitter. The spread of age-groups opening Facebook each day is wide — with 85% of 18-35 year olds, 88% of 35-54 year olds, and 93% for those aged over 55 visiting at least once each day.
Facebook and Snapchat age groups differ greatly
There are far larger differences in age groups when comparing this data to Snapchat. 53% of Snapchatters aged between 18 and 34 open the app each day, while only 18% of those users aged between 35 and 54 do the same. For the over 55s, it’s just 7%.
Snapchat’s on-demand nature appeals to the younger audience, says The Manifest, while Facebook’s curated, television-style delivery appeals to older audiences.
