Amazon had a very successful mobile holiday shopping period, with a 70% increase in the amount of shoppers using its mobile app. This resulted in some impressive sales statistics, including the site selling more than 1,400 electronics products every second over the holiday period.

The top five most ordered products were dominated by Amazon’s own devices too. The Echo Dot was the number one ordered product on a mobile device, followed by the Fire TV Stick. The TP-Link Smart Plug — which is supported by Amazon’s Alexa — was also on the list.

Amazon’s recently introduced AR View feature, which places products sold through the site into your home using augmented reality on a smartphone, was also popular. Launched in November, Amazon says it was most used on Cyber Monday.

Amazon’s Jeff Wilke, Worldwide Consumer CEO, said:

“Thank you to the millions of customers and hundreds of thousands of Amazon employees all around the world who made this holiday better than ever before. We look forward to another great year ahead.”
