Jumping on the short-form video bandwagon, YouTube is reportedly working on a feature called Shorts which rivals popular app TikTok.
According to information by sources famililar with the matter obtained by The Information, Google-owned video platform could shortly be releasing a tool that allows users to create their own content and access licensed music to add to their videos.
Shorts would sit within the YouTube mobile app.
That sounds pretty similar to TikTok, but it won’t be easy to catch up to an app that’s already proving to be a massive success.
It’s not the first time, YouTube has attempted to recreate an app’s feature. Previously, it added Stories to its dashboard which were made popular by Snapchat and later widely copied by most social media platforms.
It’s not entirely clear if or when Shorts would launch, or whether the feature could catch on.
