WhatsApp has announced group calls for voice and video, a new feature that’s being released for Android and iOS devices now. The company says calls are a very popular feature already, with two billion minutes spent on calls each day.

The feature will allow four people to participate in a group call, and new members are added using a dedicated button that appears once a voice or video call has begun. Screenshots of the feature show the screen split into quarters for the calls.

WhatsApp promises the feature has been designed to operate regardless of network conditions around the world, and has built end-to-end encryption into the system too. To find the new group call feature, ensure your app is up-to-date.
