WeQ acquires Booster Studios to expand mobile game discovery options

Mobile advertising company WeQ today announced the acquisition of boutique games development studio Booster Studios for an undisclosed sum. WeQ plans to combine its mobile advertising expertise with Booster Studios’ knowledge of gaming to provide access to gaming inventory and allow app developers to grow their reach.

In an industry expected to be worth $106 billion by 2021, the company already provides marketing services for app developers based on a fair revenue sharing system.

Casual and hyper-casual games in particular are estimated to reach $2.5 billion in annual revenue.

WeQ adds that what sets the company apart is its collaborative approach, transparency and premium player acquisition options.

“WeQ STUDIOS leverages our market expertise in mobile advertising to offer premium player acquisition and industry knowledge, which enables our partners to get discovered while they focus on what they do best: create great mobile games. This combination of gaming talent and advertising expertise ensures our partners’ success,” explained Markus Malti, Managing Director of WeQ.

To date, Booster Studios released two hyper-casual games – Helix Madness and Stack it Up!. Following the acquisition through WeQ, the team created Cube Flip and will be launching Clear Out in June.

In addition, WeQ announced a series of key hires including Fredereic Hatanian who will be joining WeQ from SoftGames as Head of Gaming. Meanwhile, Alex Olmos Pardos joins as UA Manager of Mobile gaming from Bench Games.
