Bunch, the social video app for mobile gaming, has raised $3.85 million in funding. The investment came from household names in the gaming industry including Supercell, Tencent, Riot Games, Miniclip, Colopl Next and Uken Games.
The latest round brings the total funding raised by Bunch to $8 million. The startup plans to use the capital injection to accelerate product development and expand partnerships and integrations.
“Live multiplayer games are the new social networks and are increasingly how a generation of people spend time together,” said Bunch CEO Selçuk Atlı.
“At Bunch, our goal is to create the easiest and most fun way to communicate with friends while playing their favourite games. All the while, helping developers bring players back more often, along with their friends.”
Alongside the new funding, Bunch has also expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Jonas Christiansen as head of product. He previously held senior product design roles at Facebook and Google. The startup has also appointed Greg Essig as head of business development.
Jaakko Harlas, head of developer relations and strategic finance at Supercell, added:
“We are constantly looking for ways to make playing our games with friends as easy and enjoyable as possible. Bunch is the most thoughtful experience we’ve seen that tackles this problem – and we are looking forward to working together closely.”
