Verizon Media will be closing its Oath Ad Platforms in 2020, following a review of its business strategy.
Verizon which used to be called Oath and rebranded as Verizon Media in early 2019, explained that its SSP and DSP business units would remain unaffected by the closure.
The company reached out to publishers and industry partners to inform them of the unit closing down.
“Following a strategic review of our business, we have decided to close the Oath Ad Platforms Ad Server, effective 2020,” a Verizon Media spokesperson shared with Adweek.
“We are working with our customers to ensure they are supported as they migrate from the Ad Server platform. This does not affect our Oath Ad Platforms SSP business. Our goal is to create the best experiences for our consumers and the best platforms for our customers. This marks a strategic step toward the execution of our plans for growth and innovation into the future.”
The company plans to refocus on higher-revenue segments including connected TV, audio and mobile apps.
