Twitter has emerged as a potential buyer for TikTok’s US operations.
The news follow Microsoft recently acknowledging that it had been in talks with TikTok to possibly purchase the business.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Twitter is in talks with TikTok about purchasing its US and possibly UK business.
Meanwhile, Microsoft would be interested in acquiring the US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand business.
However, Microsoft is rumoured to remain the main contender given that it is a far larger business than Twitter.
That said, antitrust regulators may put less scrutiny to a deal between Twitter and TikTok than Microsoft and the short-form video app.
The deal is on the table ever since President Donald Trump signed orders for companies to stop using the ByteDance-owned app.
TikTok has vowed to fight the decision.
