Travel-focused rewards app Miles has secured an additional round of funding led by JetBlue Ventures. The $2.25 million round also saw participation from Sony Innovation Fund, Porsche Digital and a handful of other funds, according to Forbes.
Billed as a “frequent flyer scheme for ground transportation”, Miles has built a loyalty programme that rewards people for all modes of travel and transportation. The mobile app tracks a user’s location and transportation mode in the background to award them loyalty points.
“The value proposition of Miles is simple: for every mile you go, you earn a “mile” in reward value that’s automatically added to your account,” wrote JetBlue Ventures’ Alex Kaufman in a blog post.
“It’s a loyalty platform that rewards daily movement, tiered according to your type of transportation — healthier and more eco-friendly modes of travel, such as public transport, biking or walking, earn more miles than driving a car, for example.”
The Miles app allows people to redeem their accumulated miles for products or discounts from more than 75 brands who have partnered with the platform. In addition to the funding announcement, Miles said that it will be adding further partners to its rewards offerings.
