It’s well-known the cost of developing and creating an app in India is lower than in the U.S. or other places around the world, but the exact difference between them is rarely highlighted. A report from app developers Hyperlink Infosystem has finally done so, along with providing research into timeframes and other key app development factors.

In its study, Hyperlink Infosystem shows the average app takes eight weeks to build, and costs around $48,000 in the U.S., based on a $150 hourly rate. The same app in India costs $4800, based in a $15 per hour rate.

Data has been taken from more than a thousand iOS, Android, and Windows app development projects carried out by the company. It estimates an iOS or Android app in development needs three weeks spent on the back end, and five weeks on the front end. Working on the project for eight hours a day, it’ll be complete in eight weeks, after 320 hours have been put in.

The company put the report together to help, “spread awareness among businesses and non-technical persons to identify the basic factors that contribute in deciding the overall app budget,” according to Hyperlink Infosystem’s CEO.
