Snapchat is reportedly testing a tool that would let users share content on the app that’s not their own.

The company previously said it was looking to develop ways through which users could share Stories outside of the app.

A spokesperson confirmed to Axios that the app was exploring tools to make sharing easier and boost engagement.

Content that could be shared outside of the app may include original shows and Discover partner content such as Publisher Stories and Shows.

The number of users viewing Shows on the app rose 45% during the last quarter compared to the previous year, according to Snapchat.

The function would allow Snapchatters to share photos and videos of other users as well.

When a recipient clicks on the shared link within their messenger or another social media platform, it will open inside the Snapchat app or the mobile web.

Additionally, Snapchat is looking to rebrand its “For You” feed to be called “Spotlight”. This will feature content from Snap creators and curators.

Snapchatters are also being encouraged to submit their own Snaps to be featured on Spotlight.
