eCommerce company Shopify has just made it easier for merchants to chat with customers on its Shopify platform.
The company said that its Ping mobile app was now integrated with the Apple Business Chat platform which will allow merchants to communicate with shoppers on the go, access products and real-time support.
As social media apps have begun to roll out their own shopping features, competition is heating up and platforms such as Shopify have made a range of improvements to enable brands to communicate with customers more directly.
In June, Shopify rolled outs its Fulfillment Network for US merchants which provides a network of distributed fulfilment centres offering lower shipping costs.
It also announces its Shopify Plus enterprise platform to provide merchants with easier ways to create new stores.
The latest integration with Apple Business Chat provides retailers with a more direct means to get in touch with customers and solve queries about product features or shipping.
“Our integration with Apple Business Chat will uniquely allow our merchants to establish, maintain and communicate with their customers directly through Messages,” said Michael Perry, Director of Product at Shopify.
In addition, customers can now use Apple Pay to make a purchase directly from within a messaging thread.
