Quora has begun testing adverts that look like a question and answer service with brands including Lever, Uber, Wealthfront and Sunrun.

Quora says that each ad will meet the quality of content of a Q&A session. Placements are being labelled “promoted by” to ensure consumers are aware of the distinguishing features between a legitimate and promoted answer.
Ads will be placed across Quora’s mobile app and web.
The move marks the first time Quora has monetised its platform. Founded almost seven years ago, it has featured celebrities’ and politicans’ answers and added other features to enhance the knowledge available on the Internet, including Writing Sessions.
Quora now has over 100m monthly unique visitors which could be a bonus to attract advertisers to the programme. Q&A ads will be rolled out more widely after the initial testing is finished.
