Pokémon GO posts $3.6 billion in user spending

Pokémon GO which this year celebrated its fourth anniversary has reached the milestone of $3.6 billion in user spending worldwide.

That’s according to new data from Sensor Tower, which found that the US is the most lucrative market for Pokémon GO where it generated around $1.3 billion or 35.4%.

Japan follows in second spot and Germany in third.

Google Play accounted for 53.6% or $1.9 billion of the game’s revenues, while the Apple App Store generated 46.4% or $1.7 billion in revenues.

In terms of downloads, Pokémon GO generated over 576 million unique downloads.

Around a fifth (18.2%) of installs came from the US (105 million), followed by Brazil (63 millions downloads) and Mexico (36 million installs).

The majority of downloads came from Google Play at 450 million (78%) while Apple was responsible for 22% of downloads.

The latest figures point to the phenomenal success Pokémon GO has been able to sustain since it was originally launched.
