Pinterest added several new features for retailers to its platform as it noticed an increase in searches.
As more people are staying indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic, searches for makeup tutorial shot up 180% while kid-friendly recipes were up 64% and home organisation had seen 43% more searches.
In light of the surge in people hungry for more information, the platform has added conversion insights for retailers to gain a better overview of website visits, sales and basket checkouts when using Pinterest stoppable posts and Catalog ads.
At the same time, Pinterest has extended its dynamic ad retargeting for global marketers looking to engage consumers.
But the company isn’t just making things better for marketers and brands. Pinterest also announced the addition of a Today tab to its app which lets Pinners monitor global daily trends across topics such as entertainment, crafts, indoor activities and cooking, among others.
The move is an attempt by the company to reach more users who self-isolating or are under lockdown.
The Today tab will include useful health information provided by the NHS, World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control.
In a blog post, the company shared:
“In the past few weeks, searches for “calming quotes” doubled and “stress relief” and “stress quotes” have tripled, and so we’ve also launched compassionate search on web, to make the mental wellness feature available on all platforms. That means when you search for terms like “stress relief” from your desktop computer or phone, you’ll see the options to check out a collection of emotional wellbeing activities to help relax and feel better with content from emotional health experts.”
Overall, Pinterest has noticed higher user engagement in countries such as the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
