Pinterest has added a new artificial reality (AR) feature that makes trying out lipstick a lot more fun.
The ‘Try On’ feature lets users test out lipstick virtually to find the perfect shade to match their skin tone.
Users can then save their try-ons as Pins and shop for a shade by accessing the retailer’s website via the link.
The AR function is supported by the platform’s visual technology in its Lens tool. When a user searches for “lipstick” on Pinterest, they can now opt to try on a shade by holding their phone camera in front of them.
Users simply swipe through the different shades to test them.
If a Pinner likes a lipstick, they can “Shop the look” instantly.
Brand partners of the feature are Estée Lauder, bareMinerals, Neutrogena, L’Oreal, NYX Professional Makeup, YSL Beauté, Lancôme, Sephora, and Urban Decay.
The addition is a great way to Pinterest to up its game within mobile shopping and, at the same time, it provides a more interactive way for consumers to engage with brands on the platform.
