Ola Cabs, a London-based Uber rival, has seen a hike in app downloads in part thanks to heavyweight Uber losing its TFL license last year.
New data provided by App Annie, the mobile data and analytics platform, reveals that Ola ranked 9th for ride-hailing app downloads in the UK in 2018 and rose to spot four by 2019.
App Annie reported a 150% growth in downloads of the app in the UK between March 2019 to May 2019 on both Android and iOS devices. The rise was largely driven by regional launches.
However, Uber remains at the top of the list. The company has challenged TFL’s ruling and as such remains operational in the capital.
Bolt ranks second followed by Kapten.
Originating from India, Ola ranked top among month active users in 2019. In terms of monthly active users, Ola scored spot six in the UK in 2019, but as of 2020 stood at spot four.
