Mobile game ad revenues jumped 59% during April

Mobile game ad revenues grew 59% during April 2020 compared to the previous year, according to a report from video game software company Unity Technologies.

The upswing is a direct result of a growing number of people using their smartphones to play games during the pandemic

Meanwhile, ad impressions rose 57% during the same period as app developers sought to monetise their content.

Mobile gaming was up 17% during the early days of the pandemic in the US, while the number of viewed ads rose 14%.

The report also revealed that in-app purchase revenues grew 24% in March and April 2020.

But as more brands and developers decreased their budgets during the pandemic, cost per mille saw a dip of 20%. In return, ad volume and conversion rates were higher during the first few months of the year.
