Mobile accounts for 60% of video game revenues worldwide

Mobile games accounted for around 60% of global video gaming revenues in 2019, according to research by

Games on mobile generated $49 billion in revenues, followed by online games in second place at a profit of $16.9 billion, the research reveals. Download games also proved lucrative at $15.1 billion last year.

The mobile gaming market is set to remain lucrative at a 2.9% annual growth rate. It’s projected to reach $56.6 billion by 2024.

These developments are being led by users in China, followed by the US, Japan and South Korea.

According to the study, the number of mobile gamers worldwide reached 1.36 billion last year and is set to rise to 1.7 billion by 2024.

36% of mobile gamers are aged 25 to 36 years old.

User penetration currently hovers at around 18.6% but is set to reach 22.5% by 2024.
