US mobile engagement platform 3Cinteractive Corp (3C) has been acquired by IMImobile, a communications software provider which seeks to expand its current suite of products to focus more heavily on RCS integration.
“We are delighted to announce the acquisition of 3Cinteractive and look forward to bringing our technology platform and automation capabilities to more clients in North America and enhancing our RCS deployment capabilities globally,” said Jay Patel, IMImobile’s group chief executive.
3C provides mobile messaging, mobile coupons, mobile wallets, and mobile web services in North America within the Rich Communications Services market.
IMImobile hopes that connect 3C’s RCS Business Messaging Solutions with its CPaaS cloud communications platform.
RCS is an online protocol launched in 2008 to replace SMS standards by adding more multimedia features such as the ability to send GIFs and high-resolution videos and photos. The standard would also make it easier for companies to engage with consumers.
“3Cinteractive adds impressive experience in dealing directly with the most sophisticated consumer-oriented brands, while working closely with the mobile operators in the US on RCS and more. Together we will be ideally positioned to serve the needs of the entire enterprise communications ecosystem with RCS and the IMImobile enterprise CPaaS offering,” commented Bruce Bales, North American chief executive, IMImobile.
According to John Duffy, founder and chief executive officer at 3Cinteractive, RCS allows businesses to provide richer consumer experiences and could be next frontier in mobile messaging.
