Huawei partners with to launch app on its devices

Chinese handset maker Huawei will soon be adding to millions of its smartphone devices.

The company reached a deal with the the streaming platform for short films to distribute its app across existing and new devices.

The app will come preloaded as part of the Huawei Video feature which already offers access to BBV and Rakuten TV content. noted a spike of 220% in viewership in light of global lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Demand is particularly high among the younger generations with 64% of teens aged 13 to 17 years and 60% of those aged 18 to 36 years streaming short video content every week.

Touting itself as the Netflix of short-form video, users will gain access to more than 10,000 movies 10 to 15 minutes in length. was launched in October 2019 and now has 150,000 subscribers in over 190 countries.

The app is also in discussion with hotel chains and airlines to launch its content.
