Social sports app GameOn has relaunched, after attracting the eye of two well-known NFL stars — Joe Montana and Lawyer Milloy — both of whom contributed to a new $1.5m seed funding round. Montana’s investment came through his new fund, Liquid Two. According to Fortune, this is the first investment in technology from Milloy, who is also taking a more active day-to-day role with the company.

GameOn wants to become the one-stop mobile app for sports fans wanting to connect up with other fans

GameOn has gone through some changes in the year since it originally launched, and in addition to a sports-focused messaging platform, it also contains “huddles” with pro athletes, scores, a real-time Twitter feed, highlight videos, and Vine video integration.

The app covers all sports, but founder Alex Beckman says the “surprise opportunity” comes from cricket, which is apparently underserved in the world of mobile sports apps. By incorporating so many features, GameOn is going up against established industry names such as WhatsApp, ESPN, and even Twitter. Beckman wants GameOne to be the one place fans go to in order to find out what’s happening in sports, regardless of whether it’s on their daily commute, or when watching a game.

The app is available for iOS and Android from here.
